Heritage Party President Brigadier General Godfrey Miyanda stated in the Post recently that Zambia is headed for destruction. He said, “President Rupiah Banda has opened wide the door to Zambian bedroom for
a few pieces of silver and that at this rate there would soon be no Zambia.” Another political leader, Edith Nawakwi, President of FDD said in the Post, “President Rupiah Banda has set himself on a path self-destruction which will have devastating consequences on the nation.” Both the leaders were expressing concern for lack of transparency by government in the way it was conducting business in the sale of Zamtel to foreign investors.
Any person who loves this nation cannot take these stern warnings by seasoned political leaders lightly. Brigadier General Godfrey Miyanda is a Christian. Does he sense that God is about to judge Zambia? Edith Nawaki has moved a step further by pleading to President Banda to seek counsel from the clergy on the way he is governing our nation. But do the clergy know what God has on His agenda for our nation at this time in history? When God was about to carry the gospel message to the Gentile world He came to the apostle Paul. When He was about to destroy the world with flood He came to Noah. God came to Moses when He was about to deliver the Israelites from oppression of the Egyptians. God told Amos “The Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7).
Is God revealing to the evangelical clergy on what He is about to do? Are the clergy and the evangelical Christians adjusting their lives to God, so that they can move into the mainstream of His activity before it is too late? Throughout the Old Testament and church history, we notice that in every case of crisis God came to someone and that person released his life to God. Then God began to do a mighty work in that person to turn a nation completely around. Gideon, Deborah, Wilberforce, Elijah and Luther are all great examples of men and women God used to accomplish his purposes through individuals.
If God is speaking who are the men and women of God with a word from the Lord? We are hearing the word from politicians that we are headed for destruction as a nation. Is this a warning from God? What is God telling Christian leaders to do in light of these revelations from political leaders? When God speaks to spiritual leaders He wants to work through them to accomplish His purposes. Spiritual leaders know exactly what God is expecting them to do when He speaks. Ask Paul, Peter, Daniel, Nehemiah, Joseph or Moses.
When God was about to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, He spoke to Abraham and Abraham knew it was God who was speaking to him. Abraham knew what he was supposed to do-he interceded for the city. God is speaking to the church about what He is about to do. Are we listening? What is your response? Your response can result to the peace and prosperity of Zambia or…. Are you willing to adjust your life in preparation for what He is about to do through you for the peace of our nation? I am Lord.
